Federal Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazari called on Prime Minister Imran Khan
Federal Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazari called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and presented a report on the situation of women in jails and recommendations for providing relief to them. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Human Rights, Dr. Shirin Mazari, on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, presented to him a report based on the situation of women prisoners and recommendations for providing relief to them.
It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had in late May set up a high-level committee headed by the Minister for Human Rights to review the plight of women prisoners and directed them to make recommendations within four months.
The report makes a number of recommendations regarding the provision of relief to women prisoners. The Minister for Human Rights also presented the two-year performance report of the Ministry to the Prime Minister and he informed the Prime Minister that a Child Protection Center is being set up in the federal capital for the protection of children. Security but also education, psychological support and other facilities will be provided.
The Prime Minister was informed that work was also underway to set up special courts for children. He briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the steps being taken to protect the rights of women shelters and transgender people by providing shelter and protection to helpless and distressed women. On the occasion, the Prime Minister appreciated the steps taken to prepare a comprehensive report on women prisoners in prisons and to protect human rights. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that civilized societies are identified by ensuring protection of human rights. He said that protection of human rights is the top priority of the present government and every effort will be made in this regard.
